Engaging with Schools
ACCA UK has developed a new web resource to help ACCA members and Approved Employers engage with students to provide work-related learning, an essential part of the school curriculum for 14-16 year olds. Work-related learning is defined as “planned activity designed to use the context of work to develop knowledge, skills and understanding useful in work’. (The Education Act 2002), and can take many different forms, including presentations to students in schools, or offering work experience placements. The UK’s skills shortage is dramatically impacting on many businesses’ ability to recruit young people with the right skills and attitude for work. Work-related learning is an ideal way of helping students develop these skills – communication, team-working, IT skills, numerical competence and problem-solving – all essential for the student’s future employment and beneficial for business and the wider economy.
