Preparing to enter the second century
The climax of ACCA's centenary celebrations will be marked by the first ever joint session of ACCA's ruling Council and its International Assembly. Delegates from the Assembly and Council members will meet to hear about governance issues, including the role of Council and the achievements of the Assembly.
Over 50 delegates from 35 countries and regions - all senior ACCA members - will be attending the annual meeting of ACCA's International Assembly over the weekend. They will discuss strategies and share ideas with other senior members who act as ambassadors for ACCA in their own communities.
The meeting will include presentations on ACCA's new CPD scheme and consultation on ACCA's Professional Scheme syllabus review, as well as discussions on developing long-term partnerships with other bodies. The International Assembly will also receive a presentation from Graham Ward, president of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
The joint session of Council and the International Assembly members will take place on Monday morning, at which ACCA's Chief Executive, Allen Blewitt will present his thoughts for the future as ACCA prepares to enter its second century. This will be followed by an invitation only centenary seminar, at which the keynote speech will be delivered by Mike Rake, chairman of KPMG International.
