Over 2,300 members attend ACCA Realise workshops
As part of the launch of ACCA Realise - ACCA's new CPD scheme - a series of presentations and workshops were held in the Caribbean, Ireland and the UK during December. Attended by over 500 members, these events bring the total number of members who have attended ACCA Realise workshops to over 2,300 worldwide.
The workshops have been designed to ensure that members are fully aware of ACCA's CPD requirements, understand the various ways that relevant learning and develop can be achieved, and are able to take full advantage of the products and services available via ACCA Realise. Each presentation was followed by a question and answer session, giving members the opportunity to ask probing questions about particular aspects of the scheme and improve their overall understanding.
'This face-to-face presentation has been informative, and has aroused both interest and awareness…the scheme does not appear as foreboding as first anticipated.'
Members have welcomed the fact that the scheme recognises a wide variety of learning activities as relevant CPD. As Steve Heathcote, Director of Training & Development explains: 'members are learning and developing all the time. CPD is not simply about attending courses but also covers learning at work, reading, researching, and presenting. ACCA Realise is just a way of making sure this development is captured and recognised.'
The success of these events is indicative of the importance that ACCA members place on their own learning and development with many members believing that the scheme will add value to membership:
'ACCA Realise appears to be well thought out and will enhance the quality of ACCA members.'
'ACCA Realise gives credit to the ACCA qualification.'
More events are scheduled for early 2005 and there will be further opportunities for phase two and three members to attend workshops later in the year. Members unable to attend events can learn more about ACCA Realise at: www.accaglobal.com/cpdrealise
