Partner, Baker Tilly Mooney Moore
Joanne is a keen champion of small and medium-sized business. "There is a price to be paid for restoring confidence in the profession," she says, "but I hope that the increasing technical complexity and regulation being applied to large companies is not cascaded down indiscriminately to smaller business, placing an unfair burden on them."
A partner in Baker Tilly Mooney Moore, Joanne is committed to the expansion of the practice. For her, essential ingredients for success include acting in the best interests of clients and ensuring that they are complying with all their statutory obligations.
At school and university, Joanne spent summers working in a small accountancy practice to earn some money. "One of my brothers was training in practice at that time but it was the hands-on experience that made up my mind. I really enjoyed the work."
After speaking to my tutors and researching the options available to me, I decided that ACCA offered a more flexible structure suited to my needs. "ACCA members are also ‘all-rounders'," she states, explaining that the comprehensive syllabus means that ACCA members acquire sound theoretical knowledge and are able to apply this to varied situations in the workplace.
