How do I become an accountant?
ACCA has a range of qualifications to suit you. We have the CAT (Certified Accounting Technician) Scheme, which is available to anyone over the age of 16. It will give you the fundamental skills for a career in finance, enabling you to support the work of qualified accountants in all types of businesses.
The ACCA Qualification trains you to become an accountant. It gives you the most options for study, training and your future career. In order to qualify as an ACCA member you will need to complete 14 exams (nine of which you can be exempt from depending on previous qualifications) and complete three years practical work experience as an accountant. In addition you will also need to complete a module on professional ethics. Accountants have a huge responsibility towards all stakeholders and so they need to consistently display judgement and professionalism.
You can also gain a degree when you are studying for the ACCA Qualification without having to go to university. Awarded by Oxford Brookes University, the BSc in Applied Accounting is an additional qualification that is recognised worldwide.
