Southern Network panel

Paula Goddon FCCA

Finance Revenue Manager, ICEM Ltd
tel: (02380) 604030
e-mail: paula.goddon@ntlworld.com

I joined ICEM Ltd in November 2007 after many years working for IBM UK. I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2003, but have been in the Accounting Profession for nearly 25 years.
I immediately joined the Southern Network after qualifying, and decided shortly afterwards, I would like to become involved in the Network itself. I have been a Panel Member for three years and enjoy an active role in the development of the network. Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym, reading murder novels and reading to my young Granddaughter.

Judith Lowe FCCA

Having qualified as a mature student in the 1980’s, my current position is as a Project Manager within the Radian Group, a provider of social housing , care & support.

My expereince is widespread over a number of different businesses covering aspects of accounting, audit, company secretarial & management .  I have, though not necessarily in this order  worked in the Health Service,  Audit Commission,  enginereing, electronics, food , repro & print, computing, vehicles, insurance as well as working on a contract basis for a number of years.  I do enjoy a bit of variety.

I have been with the Radian Group since 1999, working in a variety of roles, including Risk Management, but primarily my work is project based.  Currently I am involved in the implementation of a new IT system across the group specialising in  the Repairs related modules, including mobile working.

I am also on the executive team of  the Housing Association Internal Audit Forum (HAIAF).  I am involved with the management of  the communal areas of a  private estate where I am a resident.

My interests otside of work include theatre – I am a member of the local amateur dramatic & operatic society , though I have no yearning to tread the boards.  I am involved in front of House and wardrobe.  I am also interested in gardening and have an allotment.

I have recently joined the panel and look forward to greater involvement.

Jonathan Shaw FCCA

Director, Accounting and Reporting Advisory
BDO Stoy Hayward LLP
tel: (0207) 893 3878
e-mail: jonathan.shaw@bdo.co.uk

I am a director in BDO Stoy Hayward's technical accounting group based in London. I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1995 and have worked in practice ever since. Prior to joining BDO Stoy Hayward in 2005, I spent 7 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a senior audit manager providing day to day audit and accounting services to a large number of blue-chip companies including GKN plc and Cobham plc. In addition I also provided support on a national basis to a large number of IFRS transition projects. Since joining BDO in 2005, I have worked on their larger and more complex clients bringing the benefit of my strong technical accounting and auditing skills to good effect and joined the Technical group in 2008.

Outside of work, I am the Honorary Treasurer of The League of Friends of Southampton General Hospital and a Business Mentor for the Princes' Trust. For relaxation, I enjoy spending time with my wife and young son.

Subhash Tanna

I qualified as an ACCA in 1995 while I was working in the NHS in Southampton. I then had a 2 year stint as an Internal Auditor in the NHS, but then decided I preferred the Accounting side rather than Audit. I then worked in an Agency of the Ministry of Defence, where I obtained good knowledge of preparing accounts on a commercial basis. I currently work for Complete Vehicle Management Ltd, a small private company which deals in all aspects of car sales, brokerage, leasing and car & van hire.  In my spare time I like to go to the gym or play badminton, or sometimes golf.

Alan Tottle

I am the immediate past president of the ACCA UK Southern Members' Network Panel.  Following my training for the AAT qualification with Ernst & Young, Southampton, I moved into a career in internal audit in 1991 commencing work with local government and studying towards my ACCA qualifications.  Since then I have worked for a number of blue chip companies including P&O Cruises and Vodafone internal audit, and more recently as an Internal Audit Manager within the NHS.  Following 4 years with the NHS, I have now obtained a role back in local government.

In my spare time I like to participate in climbing and scuba diving and over the past three years have undertaken charitable work for St John Ambulance by training as an Emergency Transport Attendant to crew emergency ambulances at public events and also I am the Co-ordinator for Fareham Community Responders, a group of volunteers that respond to emergency calls in conjunction with the NHS ambulance service.

Jon Wood

Way back in 1995, I started my career in what was the Inland Revenue.
I'm now working for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in London, where I'm involved in the preparation of the Financial Accounts, as well as providing financial training and advice within the MoJ.

The locals still consider me to be new to Ringwood - even though I've
lived there since 1992!   I'm still very much a North Londoner and I've
always enjoyed being in London, so I don't mind the 2hr commute each way.

Outside of the office, I play Hammond Organ and Bass Guitar.  I'm also a member of a local classic car club and I'm looking to purchase and restore a classic car in the near future.
