Introduction

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the management of people to achieve business objectives. It is aimed at recruiting capable, flexible and committed people, managing and rewarding their performance and developing key competencies.

It therefore includes areas such as:

  • equality and discrimination
  • legislation
  • Investors in People
  • policies
  • recruitment and selection
  • remuneration
  • training.

Health and safety issues are covered under a separate section of this e-Resource centre.

With all the recent changes in legislation and with EU legislation coming into effect, employment law is an area where many organisations need advice. For further information, visit the "Employment Law" section.
